Chickens sure do HATE the snow!

Most of the time this winter has been spent coaxing the chickens out of the coop and into the snow. Each morning when we open the coop, the first foot that goes out comes right back in. Tasty treats and hay to cover the snow help to encourage the girls to get out and stretch their legs.

There is always that one chicken that refuses to come out until Spring. Perhaps this is where the term “Cooped Up” comes from.

Either way the girls are happy and healthy, waiting for the sun to return and long days soaking in heat.
